News 2010 - January
THE SIERRA LEONE MISSION
C3MSL/ SPORTS LIFE INT.
I am very happy to give you an update about what the good Lord is doing in the Sierra Leone Ministry.
2009 was a very challenging year: we took a lot of steps by faith and that is what the ministry is all about. Not able to raise the funds for some of the programs planned but we did not give up especially with Sports Life. We look forward to what God is going to do this year.
Our Challenge for 2010 is “Building Solid Foundation’’ Psm.11:3 “when the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?’’ We intend to lay solid foundational Blocks for our members.
I am very grateful to the Almighty God as we continue to thank him for his abundant mercies and blessing for seeing us through 2009.
APPRECIATION - CHURCH
- Our pastors and teachers received regular stipend
- God is opening doors for the ministry, a fellowship started in Makeni and another village in Kono.
- God added new members to the Churches. In Freetown they can count 12 people have been baptized and accepted as members in good standing. The other branches did the same.
- The Koidu Town Church that has been going through a lot of problems has finally secured their own building.
We thank all those who has contributed to it, may the Good Lord provide a hundred fold. Even though it is not finished yet, we have started meeting in it, and believing God for its completion. “Doors, windows, electrical, paintings, plastering, etc remaining” - The first set of children who took their national examination from our schools made it to secondary schools.
- The completion of the three classrooms building at Meama, St Andrews school.
- The coming home of my wife after a long stay in England for the first time to meet families and friends.
- I was able to go to England this year to meet with friends and partners of our ministry. I enjoyed my stay there as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinners and parties where organized for me. I enjoyed them so much. And was able to meet a lot of people. The visit was successful. Special thanks to Richard Bayfield.
SPORTS LIFE……
- Inter – Church Football tournament was done. 24 churches competed, created a lot of impact. The kickoff was done by the F A President of Sierra Leone.
- Jog for Jesus was done – a lot of people came out to praise the Lord, churches and sports clubs.
- Several people received trainings, five went to Ghana and two went South Africa. People I can depend on. I did Level 1 training for 12 people in SL.
- The open doors we now have with the schools in the country for ministry is growing.
- Sports coaching is going on for both children and youth. Children
- ministry has been developed by those from Ghana
- Sports Life was able to send a Team to Liberia to participate in sports ministry program. We acted as an encouragement to the Team in Liberia. They are looking forward to us to provide vision and direction.
- We now have an evangelist assigned to the clubs. A lot of evangelism is being done. We see testimonies in the field of play. They pray together. They wear T-Shirt with slogans, Jesus Save, Jesus Love you, Jesus can do it again etc.
- We would really love to have the Children Sports Camp this year –Please pray that we raise the funds. The Children are looking forward to it. It is a discipleship tool and we have started putting things in place.
CHALLENGES…………. PRAYERS
- For Government to take over the Schools and pay the Teachers.
- I have been asked to move out of our office because they have increased the rent to $3,500 - it is too much for that place. God has provided a better place for less. Pray I get it.
- To complete the Koidu Town Church. As it is risky to leave it wide open. Pastor Marcarthy has sent out the estimate.
- We are expecting people this year to come visit us from England, Holland etc May it come to pass.
- For more souls to be touch and the Kingdom of God Prevail.
- For God to provide the resources we need to make us more effective in ministry.
- For the children that are taking their national exam from our schools to make good grades, 10 in St Andrews and 21 Meichetta school.
- For the Faith step we are taking to Makeni where a new Church congregation has started.
- We have put programs together for both Church and Sports Life ministries independently which I will let you have.
- Sports Life programs this year. Send you yearly program later.
- For God to provide open doors for ministry.
- For the Country to remained more stable.
- For spiritual growth for our Pastors and members.
CONCLUSION………………..
Jesus has called us to follow him, not to follow people or program but to follow him. To look to him as the one who will do what we can not do.
How we start sometimes will affect how we continue. There is one thing I am sure of, that is, I do know God as my father and I have a relationship with Jesus as my savior and the on-going experience of the moving of the Holy Spirit in my life. That is the number one foundation everyone should have.
To follow Jesus, He promises to make us and mould us. That is an ongoing process. As we go through 2010, may we avail ourselves for God to continue to make us. In Jesus Name.
